New Orleans: The Big Easy Tour Daily Itinerary

  • Escape to the sunshine and warmth of the deep south with a visit to New Orleans, the “Big Easy.” Soon you will be immersed in a cultural melting pot that is rich in both history and mouth-watering cuisine. Upon arrival, we’ll enjoy a city tour. Afterwards, check into your hotel for a four-night stay. Tonight, board the Steamboat Natchez for the famous Jazz Dinner Cruise. Meals: D

  • Our local guide rejoins us for a morning walking tour of the French Quarter. Learn about the culture and history of the city, both past and recent. This afternoon, visit the New Orleans School of Cooking for an introduction to the worlds of Cajun and Creole cooking, as well as the food, music, and “joie de vivre” that are unique to Louisiana. Take time this evening to explore the city on your own. Browse in the French Quarter, see St. Louis Cathedral, or consider cafe au lait and beignets at the Cafe du Monde. Meals: B, L

  • Experience the life of a wealthy sugar baron with a visit to Houmas House Plantation. Tour the plantation house and stroll the 38 acres of gardens. Shoot photos of moss-covered cypress trees as we journey by boat into the Louisiana bayou. Watch swamp creatures peek out from underbrush and safely come within a few feet of jumping gators. Take in world-class views and experience fascinating, interactive exhibits at the VUE Orleans Observation Deck, located high above the river’s curve. Meals: B, L

  • This morning we’ll pay a visit to Mardi Gras World, the largest and most respected float builder in the world. Since 1947, this company has created most of the spectacular props and floats seen in the Mardi Gras parades. This afternoon enjoy a celebration lunch at the famous Court of Two Sisters restaurant. Spend the remainder of the day exploring on your own. Meals: B, L

  • Our bags are packed for the journey home but we have the number one attraction in New Orleans waiting for us this morning. The National WWII Museum tells the story of the American experience in the war that changed the world. Afterwards, we are off to the New Orleans airport to catch our flight back home. Meals: B
