Porto is home to centuries-old architecture, intricately tiled churches, and some of the best food and drink in Europe. Take a guided walking tour through the Ribeira district, one of the most picturesque neighborhoods in Porto. Stroll the banks of the Douro River and have some free time before boarding our river cruise ship. After dinner, we’ll set out to see Porto at night, with a stop at the Sao Bento railway station to view the magnificent azulejo, the Portuguese tin-glazed ceramic tilework.. Meals: D

Take a guided tour through Porto to discover the city center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We’ll tour the St. Francis Church and then head inside the Bolsa Palace (Stock Exchange Building). Ascend the ornate marble and granite staircase to visit the Golden Room and the lavishly decorated Arab Room. At an azulejo workshop, take in the bright blue and white tiles depicting flowers, animals, and historic events. Enjoy an evening of dancing on the ship as we cruise through the Douro River valley. Visit the Douro Museum to learn about the passionate history and wine-making heritage in the region. We’ll continue to the Mateus Palace, a beautiful 18th-century manor with its Baroque façade, ornate stairway, and rooftop statues. Enjoy a stroll through the magnificent tree- and hedge-lined gardens, including a romantic topiary tunnel. Return to the ship for an evening of entertainment with a Spanish flair. Meals: B, L, D

Discover the magic of Salamanca, known as the “Golden City”, a rare beauty, awash with golden sandstone buildings, a grand plaza, and a lively old town. We’ll visit the cathedral with architectural styles including late Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance. View the lavishly adorned gate at “Escuelas Mayores”, one of the world’s oldest universities . After lunch together, discover the city on your own. Tonight, we celebrate with a gala dinner. Meals: B, L, D

Travel along the Port Wine Route, winding through gorgeous scenery and valleys of the Douro River. In Pinhao, we’ll visit a quinta (wine cellar) to taste the famous Porto wines and make a stop at the historic Pinhao train station, known for its superb azulejo frescoes. Enjoy an evening of traditional folk entertainment on board the ship. Meals: B, L, D

After disembarking, we’ll travel to Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. With a stop at Coimbra, we’ll view the grand university building and the Monastery of Se Velha (Old Cathedral). Wander past the medieval tower of Porta e Torre de Almedina and the Igreja de Santa Cruz Church with its high ceiling, altar, and stunning artwork. Stroll the Jardim da Manga Cloister, known for its lemon-yellow fountain. As we drive to Lisbon, view the majestic arches of the São Sebastião aqueduct and enjoy a brief stop at the windswept cliffs of Cabo da Roca, where we’ll discover the charming village of Cascais. We will explore the grandeur of Lisbon with a guided tour by coach and on foot. We’ll see the UNESCO World Heritage listed Jerónimo Monastery with the tomb of Vasco da Gama, and the richly decorated Belem Tower. Wander the delightful maze of cobbled streets of Alfama, discover the castle of Sao Jorge, and explore the elegant district of Baixa. We’ll visit the National Tile Museum, home to one of the largest collections of ceramics in the world. In the afternoon, discover Lisbon’s historical center, stunning architecture, and fantastic food on your own. Meals: B

Today we delve into magical Sintra, starting with a visit to the whimsical Pena Palace. In Pena Park uncover secret caves and trails, admire the variety of plants and trees, and view the decorative Moorish Fountain. Afterwards, visit the Quinta da Regaleira Castle, full of mysterious corridors, underground crypts, and an “inverted tower”. On your own, explore Sintra’s old town with ample time to relax, soak up the atmosphere. and sample Sintra’s traditional sweet pastries. We’ll return to Lisbon with time for you to take in the city’s history and beauty on your own. We’ll gather together for a festive farewell dinner at a Fado restaurant. Meals: B, D
