Taste of Italy Daily Itinerary

  • Climb aboard for our overnight flight across the Atlantic. Enjoy in-flight entertainment and meal service as we begin our adventure in breathtaking Italy.  Meals: In-Flight 

  • After arriving in Rome, we meet our guide for a city tour. Starting at the Piazza Navona, this square offers a lively atmosphere with its many street artists, painters, and musicians. From here we move on to the Pantheon and the famous Trevi Fountain, where you can throw a coin and make a wish. Visit the Spanish Steps and the Piazza di Spagna, a favorite among tourists to sit and enjoy the views. Relax at the hotel before gathering for a welcome dinner. Meals: D

  • Take a walking tour of ancient Rome starting with the impressive Colosseum. Imagine yourself in Roman antiquity as you review the Doric, Ionic and Corinthian columns that surround the amphitheatre. Continue to Palatine Hill, where the city was founded and where Roman emperors once lived. Walk along the Via Sacra, the main road leading to to the Roman Forum and the ruins of ancient government buildings. We’ll travel to nearby Tivoli and visit Villa d’Este, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its splendid fountains characterized by wonderful water displays. We conclude the day in style with a traditional Italian dinner and live music. Meals: B, D

  • Today we take a guided tour of Vatican City, where we’ll visit the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica and Square, and the Pieta. Enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view the spectacular frescoes, towering obelisk, artistic masterpieces, and detailed tapestries. The remainder of the afternoon and evening are yours to explore this historic city. Meals: B

  • Today’s first stop is San Gimignano, a small walled medieval town perched between the rolling hills of Tuscany, surrounded by green fields and vineyards. Discover this charming town on your own, taking in the history, culture, and art. Don’t forget to treat yourself to some gelato in Piazza della Cisterna, the town’s square. This evening, we visit a local winery to enjoy dinner and a wine tasting. Meals: B, D

  • We enjoy a full day of touring Florence, birthplace of the Renaissance and home to many of the world’s greatest artistic treasures. Enjoy a stop at Galleria dell’Accademia to see Michelangelo’s David. Experience the Duomo and the Basilica de Santa Croce. The evening is yours to enjoy a relaxing meal or to further explore the beauty of Florence after dark. Meals: B

  • Say goodbye to beautiful Florence and travel to Padua, the oldest city of northern Italy with its Medieval palaces, churches, and cobble-stone streets. Upon arrival we enjoy lunch together at a local restaurant before exploring Padua’s patchwork of architectural styles and artistic influences spanning centuries. Our local guide will highlight many of the best sights such as Scrovegni Chapel, Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, and Baptistery. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to leisurely explore Padua. Meals: B, L

  • Today we travel to fair Verona, made famous as the setting of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet.” During the guided walking tour, we will see the Arena, Juliet’s balcony, and the Duomo. We continue to the charming village of Sirmione on Lake Garda, where our guide will highlight the historical Scaliger Castle, one of the most well-preserved fortresses in the world, and the ruins of a Roman villa known as Grotto di Catullo. Tonight we’ll join together for dinner at the hotel. Meals: B, D

  • Today we will visit enchanting Venice, traveling by boat to San Marco Square with its waterfront palaces, iconic red-brick Bell Tower, and lavishly decorated facades. We move on to the Byzantine Basilica of Saint Mark, Doge’s Palace, and Bridge of Sighs. Enjoy a Gondola ride through the famous canals, capturing the romance and atmosphere of the “Floating City.” Enjoy the afternoon on your own exploring the winding canals, Rialto Bridge, elegant shops, and many art galleries and museums. Tonight, we enjoy a farewell dinner in Venice. Meals: B, D

  • Our adventure comes to an end today as we travel to the Venice airport for our flight home. Meals: B
