Washington, D.C. Cherry Blossoms Tour Daily Itinerary

  • Travel to Washington, D.C. during the beautiful cherry blossoms season.  We’ll drive down the scenic Potomac Parkway to our hotel, The Alexandrian, in the charming port town of Alexandria, Virginia, for our four-night stay.  Enjoy a get-acquainted dinner at the famous Gadsby Tavern, offering fine dining since the 1770s. Meals: D

  • Today we explore Washington and gain a broad overview of our nation’s capital.  With a local guide, we’ll enjoy a full-day city tour.  Make a photo stop at the White House, drive past Capitol Hill, Embassy Row, and the Washington Monument. Visit the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, the Vietnam Memorial, and the WWII Memorial.  See and learn about many other landmarks which will bring our national heritage to life. Meals: B

  • This morning we’ll visit Mount Vernon, home of George and Martha Washington.  This 18th century estate includes the mansion, gardens, outbuildings, and tomb of our first president.  In the Museum and Education Center, see hundreds of artifacts from Washington’s lifetime and learn about the people who lived and worked at Mount Vernon.  We will enjoy lunch together before returning to Alexandria where you’ll have free time to wander the cobblestone streets of this charming town steeped in history.  Browse the unique boutique shops, stroll through the fragrant cherry blossoms, or visit one of the historic museums. Meals: B, L

  • This morning we will tour Arlington National Cemetery, a shrine to the thousands of men and women who have died to keep our country free. Visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and witness the somber ceremony of the changing of the guard. We’ll continue to the iconic National Mall, with the Washington Monument rising majestically toward the sky on one end and the stately U.S. Capitol Building on the other. The Mall is home to some of the world’s greatest Smithsonian museums. Consider visiting the National Museum of Art, Museum of Natural History, Museum of American History, or the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. Tonight, we’ll gather for a farewell dinner at a popular Georgetown restaurant. Meals: B, D
